From Planning To Completion: How Modular Buildings Quickly Expand Your School’s Admission Numbers

How quickly do you need to add space to your school? Imagine if you could have a classroom that is fully fitted, perfectly bespoke and completed on your site in as little as six weeks. With the feasibility, surveys and planning agreements in place, your modular extension could be installed by the time students return after the summer holidays for a holiday fit out, or if you prefer term time installation, in time for the next term’s learning.

Why Choose Modular Buildings?

Many schools have modular buildings on site because, apart from the short timescales, they are built off site so there is minimum disruption to your school’s timetable. Created from timber and steel for sustainability, they can even be fully finished and decorated internally and externally prior to arriving on site and with plumbing and electrical services fitted in the factory, giving you the finished product that fits seamlessly in place within your school grounds. With so much of the work taking place off site, your overall programme time can be significantly reduced ensuring minimal disruption, efficient installation and an individual design to reflect your school’s values and ethos.

Envoplan’s Modular Buildings

We offer three main types of modular buildings for all budgets and purposes. Our temporary buildings offer a short term and economic solution, usually used to house students whilst work is being carried out in other areas of the school. These are often a simple structure with a basic level of internal and external finishes. However, many schools want to add more space that will last for years and our permanent buildings do just that. Indistinguishable from traditional buildings, they can be clad to match adjacent areas, and are finished on site to a consistently high standard. The third option are demountable buildings, permanent buildings which are designed to be taken apart and re-erected in another location, for example moving the building to another area of the school or to re-locate it easily to another site.

Modular Buildings – The Timelines

From order to completion can be as quick as six months from start to finish. The majority of the time is pre site work so planning, pre-application submissions and feasibility studies, all of which can be done at your convenience. Once confirmed, our experienced teams then work on your requirements over a period of up to three months to produce a bespoke modular building both inside and out.

Depending on the scale of the project, our site works could take as little as 6 weeks from breaking ground to handing over the keys. Your ground works can be underway while the modules are being finalised in manufacture which keeps the process tighter as the two areas can be worked on simultaneously to ensure minimal disruption to your school day. In addition, project, cost and construction can be closely controlled giving you more certainty and you can be sure of a build that is up to 70% quicker than traditional construction with Envoplan’s modular buildings.
