The Impact Of The Learning Environment On Staff Wellbeing

Your staff are your most precious commodity.  They embody your school’s ethos, values and vision; they are a strong team who work together in a job where no two days are ever the same; they create success in your school with their valuable work leading to your excellent exam results, fantastic enrichment opportunities and much more; and most importantly, they support students and one another.

The impact of your learning environment on staff wellbeing is key to your success.

Flexible Working

We don’t mean hybrid working here – we know teachers and support staff returned to work as soon as schools opened after lockdown (many of your staff may have also continued to work at school during lockdown to support keyworkers’ families).  Since returning, staff in education have navigated mask wearing, on site testing, distancing, new layouts of corridors and classrooms and much, much more.

What we mean by flexible working in this sense is adaptability. All learning environments should offer a range of areas to appeal to different strengths.  Some students will want to work as a group, some alone, some in pairs. Your flexible classroom layout will empower all your students and staff to succeed.  Envoplan’s experience in intelligent classroom design provides the best layout to maximise results, improve staff wellbeing and increase student numbers.

Staff wellbeing

Wellbeing

Physical, mental and social health – does your school support all of these?  Your staffrooms should be a haven for teachers to be able to escape to with suitable areas they can catch up on work or with each other, hold meetings or simply have a cup of coffee in peace.  Colours can be tranquil, calming and professional or bright, colourful and fun. Acoustics should be considered, can staff have a quiet conversation in private?  Equally, if your Headteacher, Principal or Chair of Governors came in to make an announcement, could everyone hear them?

Wellbeing improves with surroundings that consider all your staffing needs.  Natural light, unobtrusive technology that creates discrete learning opportunities, rooms kept at optimum temperature to aid learning, wonderful storage solutions that keep clutter hidden yet easy to access – our bespoke intelligent designs work for all learning environments.

Growth

Teachers are always learning.  Whether it’s subject related, or navigating a new set of students each year, or CPD, or new school systems, there is something new for them to learn.

Growing and broadening knowledge is a fundamental part of education.  We aim to support your staff to do just that.

From classrooms to science laboratories; libraries to reception areas; dining halls to language blocks, the impact of what you provide for your staff will become evident in how quickly they can grow with you.  Can staff in your science labs feel inspired by the facilities you offer as well as being safe and secure, with equipment able to be stored under lock and key? Are your libraries areas that your staff enjoy and can access as well as your students?

We look at all areas of your school to ensure you offer the best environments to support your staff wellbeing.
