St Alban's Refurbishment Program
This is the first phase of a complete refurbishment program for the science faculty. We helped the school with the initial feasibility study for the whole building in view of rearranging the whole department and the flow of pupils throughout the various rooms.
This involved assessing the entire building and across several floors and looking at ways to improve the utilization of space, both teaching space and office space. This was then developed into a phased plan which is due to be carried out over the next 2-3 years.
3D Design
The 3D design was a key part of the whole project and we developed a whole lot of options for St Albans to choose from with a particular focus on the needs for neurodiverse learners which was a request from the school which was met through our design.
Envoplan's Solution
Following the master planning exercise and review of the entire building, we then focused in on the detail of the spaces involved and worked with the school very closely to develop a cutting edge solution for them that fully suited their needs.
We liaised with all of the science staff required, senior leadership in the school and the estates teams to ensure a cohesive end to end solution was provided, including full furniture manufacturing.
Refurbishment
We commenced with two laboratories and some office space across two floors including prep rooms.
This required the removal of existing walls, a complete strip out of existing classrooms which were formally standard math’s classrooms and the installation and all of the required services for mechanical and electric requirements, water and gas etc.
The Result
The response has been very positive from the school with both pupils and staff very pleased with the finished results. Check out the final outcome photos below.
