Northwood College's Brief
Our project with Northwood College was to design and create a dedicated Sixth Form Centre. This required a complete reconfiguration of their existing teaching block (Food and Textiles) with associated refurbishment and interior fit-out works.
Our Challenge
Northwood’s Sixth Form Centre needed to take their Sixth Form provision to the next level. The design had to include dedicated spaces for study and social requirements including a coffee bar, exterior balcony, fully kitted gym, washing facilities, staff areas and library space.
Envoplan's Solution
Northwood’s Sixth Form students’ own motto ‘Don’t wish for it, work for it’ became our mantra also as we planned the intelligent design and fit for this project. We created future proofed learning environments to help prepare Sixth Form students for the world of work. By taking staff and students on a full design journey including London showroom visits, we made sure they were fully informed at all stages with visual and practical updates.
Through the installation of bespoke ceiling features and planting to add to the mature environment for the older students, plus a range of quiet study booths, the school now has a mix of seating styles to suit all learners. This investment into staff and students has directly led to a very positive impact on learning outcomes and wellbeing; and we are delighted to report that the numbers for retention and attraction of students at Northwood College are the highest they have ever been.
